Wealden District Council Community Grants Programme 2009/2010
The Community Grants Programme for 2009/2010 season is here again and Application and Guidance Packs are available both in hard copy by post, or as downloadable WORD documents from our website.
There are some changes to this year's Grant Programme, both in the way in which grants are submitted, the amounts available and the criteria that will be used to assess the applications. There are three schemes this year with separate application packs for each one. So when requesting a pack, please make sure that you ask for the correct one.
Small Grant Scheme (pdf)
This Scheme will be for one-off grants of between £300 - £1,000 and money must be spent by March 2010. The Small Grants Scheme will be administered and managed on behalf of Wealden District Council by Eastbourne Association of Voluntary Services, Application packs will shortly be available in hard copy and may be requested from EAVS or Wealden District Council. Application packs are also available to download and may be completed and returned to EAVS as an email attachment. Supporting information must be sent either by e-mail or in hard copy by post.

Service Level Agreements (pdf)
All Service Level Agreements approved in this round will be for three years, and organisations must demonstrate how their work will support the Wealden District Council Corporate Plan. Applications must be project based and can be used for core costs related to those projects. It is unlikely that applications just for core costs unrelated to identified projects will be approved.
Application Packs are available either in hard copy by post from Wealden District Council, or are downloadable in WORD. Downloaded packs can be completed and returned as email attachments. However, please remember that you will either need to email all supporting documents, or send them by post.
Capital Grants (pdf)
Capital Grants are for a minimum of £10,000 and money must be spent by March 2010. Projects must demonstrate how they support the Wealden District Council Corporate Plan. Core costs related to a Capital Project can be included in the application, but it is unlikely that core costs unrelated to the project will be funded. Capital Grants over £10,000 will be paid in two equal payments, one in April 2009 and the other in September 2009.
Application Packs are available either in hard copy by post from Wealden District Council, or are downloadable in WORD. Downloaded packs can be completed and returned as email attachments. However, please remember that you will either need to email all supporting documents, or send them by post.

The closing date for applications to all grant schemes is Friday 28 November 2008.
Voluntary organisations, community groups, registered charities, not-for-profit organisations and community interest companies can apply. Town and Parish Council, commercial organisations and national charities without a local independent constitution may not apply to any of these grant schemes.
To be eligible to apply groups must meet the following criteria:
- be a voluntary organisation, community group, registered charity, not-for-profit organisation or commercial interest company
- have a written adopted constitution or set of rules
- have a bank account with at least two unrelated signatories
- have approved annual accounts, or, if it is a new organisation, income and expenditure figures
- confirmed match funding equal to the amount applied for
- applications must be received by the stated deadline date
The criteria for this years Community Grants Programme based on the Corporate Strategy (pdf), which focuses on the three topics of
"Putting People First"
"Pride of Place"
"Purpose Through Partnership"
Projects or services must only benefit the people of Wealden; be open to all and not promote religious or political beliefs. Projects should be able to demonstrate that they are needed; have real benefits for all sectors of the Wealden community; can be identified; can be measured; and show how they can be sustained in the long term.
For project with benefits limited to one or two parishes, there must be evidence that the Town or Parish Council(s) have been approached for a contribution towards the project.
If you have received a Grant from Wealden District Council in previous years you may reapply, but it must be for a different project, as repeat funding is not available.
Decisions on the applications will be based on a series of assessments and evaluation and groups will be notified of the final outcome in March 2009.
