Opening Hours

Hailsham Office: 8:30am - 5:00pm weekdays, except Wednesdays when the opening hours are 9:00am - 5:00pm. Please note that Mondays and Fridays are our busiest days.
Hailsham offices are closed at weekends and Bank Holidays.

Our phones tend to be busiest on Monday mornings until 10.30. If you ring during this period you may have a longer wait for your call to be answered. To avoid long wait times please try to call outside of these hours or use our website to find the information or report a problem. The quieter days are generally Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays.

From January 6th 2014, we made changes to our services in Crowborough in partnership with East Sussex County Council. The reception point has moved and you can now access some Wealden District Council services via the Crowborough library upstairs.

You can pick up or drop off Benefit, Council Tax and Housing forms and get supporting documents photocopied.

Library staff will be able to answer simple queries or direct you to alternative sources of information. There is a dedicated phone line available during council opening hours for you to contact Wealden District Council's Contact Centre directly as well as access to our website via library PCs.

The library is unable to accept payments in any form for Wealden services, but you can make payment by credit or debit card over the phone or via our website. If you need to pay by cash, you can do so at any Post Office with a payment card (available on request), at your bank or at our payment kiosk in the Hailsham office. Cheques can be posted to our office in Hailsham.

Emergencies - Out Of Hours

The Council maintains a 24 hour response to emergencies through its Lifeline service. Any real emergency which cannot wait until the Council offices are next open should be directed to: 01323 644422.  Lifeline will, on your behalf, take further action necessary to inform the appropriate services.

Lost or Found dogs

Please contact the Council's contractor Animal Wardens on 01424 490034 to report a lost or found dog. This number is available 24 hours per day including weekends and Bank Holidays.
