What this service does :

• We produce the corporate plan and other strategy documents explaining the Council’s objectives and how it works.
• We provide consultation on Council services.
• We provide media releases and communication on all Council services.
• We regularly publish information on how the Council is performing.
• We provide 24 hour 'Report a Fraud' facility via telephone and email and investigate suspected fraud and irregularity.
• We help to ensure good governance and value for money.
• We give advice on sustainability and climate change.

Head of Democratic & Legal Services - Trevor Scott

What this service does:

• We run elections.
• We hold a list of all people who are able to vote at elections.
• We remind you every year of the need to register in order to be able to vote at elections.
• We help you to register to have a postal vote or proxy vote.
• We make available copies of papers relating to meetings of the Council and its committees.
• We publish minutes of Council meetings.
• We maintain a list of who all the Councillors are and how you can contact them.
• We run a process to allow you to ask a question at full Council meetings.
• We let you suggest agenda items for consideration by a scrutiny committee.
• We talk with Parish Councils to ensure that we work together effectively.
  
• We support other Council services to help them deliver their services effectively and to ensure the Council operates lawfully.
