Head of Customer Services and Systems - Helen Standen
What this service does:
- We provide you with reception facilities at the Council offices, and deal with your requirements as far as possible at the first point of contact.
- We answer the telephone to all calls to the main office contact numbers and help you reach the correct department or organisation to deal with your request.
- We provide online internet facilities to help you find information, apply for services, make payments, report problems and deal with the Council in the way that best meets your needs.
- We ensure Council staff and elected members have the computer facilities and business systems they require wherever they log-in, telephone facilities, printing, photocopying, internal and external postal services, typing, email and internet access in order for them to provide services to you.
- We provide national concessionary bus travel passes for older and disabled residents in our District.
- We monitor complaints against the Council and Freedom of Information requests, ensuring they are dealt with in a timely manner.

What this service does:
- We provide housing Benefit to help meet the costs of your rent.
- We provide Council Tax Benefit to help reduce your Council Tax Bill.
- We give advice on other benefits to help you claim money you may not have known you could claim.
- We give advice on discounts and reductions for Council Tax that you can claim.
- We collect Council Tax.
- We collect Business Rates.
- We give advice to businesses on how to claim any reductions in their rates bills, for example the only shop in a village can get its bill reduced.
- We collect other income due to the Council.
- We pay you if you supply goods and services to the Council.
- We buy goods and services for the Council at the best prices available.
- We publish accounts and other information on how the Council has spent its money.
- We also provide support to other Council services to account for how they are spending money and ensuring value for money.

What this service does:
- We provide access to jobs at the Council via advertisements, interviews and issuing contracts of employment for you.
- We provide payroll for all staff and Councillors
- We provide pension services for staff.
- We provide health and safety advice and training for staff.
- We provide training and development to ensure that all staff have the correct level of skills to deliver the services that you require.
- We give employee relations advice to ensure that the working environment meets the staff needs.

Head of Corporate Assets - Terry Crone
What this service does:
- We provide Council Office buildings to enable you to complete Housing Benefit/Council Tax Benefits/Planning Applications etc. with the assistance of Council staff.
- We also provide free car parks to you and make sure they are maintained to reasonable standard.
- We ensure all of our buildings are energy monitored so as not to impact on the environment, reduce costs and waste. This is an important service, as we are all trying to reduce climate change.
- We look after emergency planning throughout the District.
- In the event of an emergency such as flooding, strong winds etc. we will assist in helping the you with temporary shelter until the emergency is resolved.
- We have responsibility for Business Continuity. This has 2 aspects; making sure the Council can continue to provide all vital services, including Benefits for example, during a crisis; also to help local business to develop their own Business Continuity Plan.
