Council Charges
The Council’s fees and charges are reviewed and published annually. It is the Council’s current practice, where possible, to cover the cost of the service provided, including overheads, taking into account market rates in the private sector.
Certain charges are determined by statute or regulation or are settled by agreement nationally, whilst in the ‘Direct Service’ areas of cesspool emptying, commercial waste collection and other trading services, officers have been given authority to exercise discretion (Minute 86WM/380) to enable a commercial approach to be taken to variable public demand.
VAT is applied to the stated charges where appropriate in accordance with current VAT regulations unless a charge is stated as being inclusive of VAT.
