An election has been called to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Keith Whitehead in the Alfriston District Ward. A by-election will be held on 25 September 2008. Nomination papers may be requested from Electoral Services, Pine Grove, Crowborough, TN6 1DH, tel no 01892 602417. Nominations may be delivered to the Crowborough office from Thursday 21 August to noon on Friday 29 August. The last date for registering to vote in thie election is 10 September 2008. Applications to vote by post must be received by Electoral Services by 5pm on Wednesday 10 September 2008. Applications to appoint a proxy must be received by Electoral Services by 5pm on Wednesday 17 September 2008 except in the case of unforeseen illness or incapacity in which case the deadline is 5pm on Thursday 25 September 2008.
