Temporary closure of South Road car park, Hailsham
South Road car park in Hailsham will be closed temporarily from Monday, August 13, in order to make improvements. The work is due to take approximately eight weeks. During this period, there will be no access to vehicles, but the cycle and pedestrian access to the Cuckoo Trail will stay open.
The car park currently has a rough surface and room for around 100 vehicles. The redevelopment includes surfacing with tarmac, marking bays and putting in lighting. When it reopens, the car park, which is free, will have capacity for approximately 115 cars. Commercial vehicles will not be allowed to use the car park and height restriction barriers will be fitted.
The other free car parks in Hailsham are: The Quintins; Vicarage Fields East; Vicarage Fields West; Vicarage Lane; Victoria Road and at weekends, Hailsham Community Centre. Maps and information on Wealden’s car parks are available on the Wealden website
