Air pollution permits and authorisations
The Council controlls pollution from some of the more potentially polluting industrial processes. The Environment Agency control the very large or potentially very polluting processes such as power stations and large metal foundries.
Local authority Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (LA-IPPC) which we are responsible for covers:
- installations known as A2 installations (referred to as A(2) in the PPC Regulations)
- Local authority Pollution Prevention and Control (LAPPC), which covers installations known as Part B installations.
Guidance on the Local Authority Air Pollution Prevention and Control.
If you feel your process or industry may need a permit to operate please contact us directly for further advice and assistance in obtaining your permit. Operating without a permit is a serious offence, we prefer to you to ensure you are operating within the law to prosecute.
Guidance notes are available from DEFRA.
