Weekly Bagged Landfill Collection
Why do we need a bagged collection?
The Wealden District is very rural, with some very narrow roads. Our normal collection vehicles are too wide or too long to gain access to some of these narrow roads. We therefore have to use vans to collect from the areas.
What do residents on the bagged collection need to do?
As the vehicles used don't have any facilities to lift and empty the bins, the collection crew have to empty the bins by hand. We therefore need residents to ensure that all their waste is contained within plastic bags before being placed in the wheelie bin. As it is for our operational reasons that we require the waste in bags, the collection crews will leave residents with a supply of plastic bags after each collection.
Do all the other requirements of the standard weekly landfill collection apply?
Yes they do. For example you will still need to put your bin out at the boundary or your property by 7am on the day of collection. For further information please visit our landfill collection details page and our frequently asked questions.
