Crime & Disorder and Community Safety

The reduction of crime and disorder in our communities is of concern to everyone – we all want to feel safe and secure in our homes, on the streets and in our neighbourhoods. Achieving this is no longer the responsibility of a single agency i.e. the Police. The Government requires local organisations and the community to work together to improve the quality of life for local residents.
The Safer Wealden
Partnership, formerly the Wealden Crime and Disorder Reduction
Partnership, was set up in 1998 to tackle such issues. Its partners include representatives from:
- Sussex Police
- Sussex Police Authority
- Wealden District Council
- East Sussex County Council
- Primary Care Trust
- East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service
- Youth Offending Team
as well as other key agencies including The Sussex Ambulance Service, East Sussex Drug & Alcohol Action Team, and Sompriti (Working with Black and Minority Ethnic People in East Sussex).
