Project Fact Sheet 6: Electric Blanket Testing Scheme

Summary of the project

This project involves the testing of electric blankets for safety belonging to residents in the district. The project is run for one week each year in October and at various venues through the Wealden area. A number of partners work together each year to make it a success.

Aim

To reduce the potential for, and number of accidents and house fires cause by faulty electric blankets and provide an information road show relevant to all people attending, but focusing on older people.

Feedback from members of the public bringing along blankets for testing and the number of blankets tested and the number failing the safety checks.

Performance Target(s)

95% of clients rating the overall service as good or excellent. Removal of all failed blankets from clients and encouraging replacement with ‘money off’ vouchers.
