Wealden Local Business Partnership and Business Support

What are Local Business Partnerships?

Local Business Partnerships are a national initiative aimed at individual local authorities and businesses in their area. They provide a framework to enable the business community and local authorities to work together to streamline the regulation process. The aim is to make it easier for you to understand and comply with regulations.

The Wealden Local Business Partnership was launched in December 1994 by Jonathan Evans, M.P. The Partnership represents the Directorate of Community Services of Wealden District Council, the Trading Standards Department of the East Sussex County Council and local businesses working closely together on regulatory matters which affect everyone in business.

What are their Aims?

  1. Cut out any unnecessary red tape.
  2. Help businesses to understand their responsibilities under regulations and make it easier to comply.
  3. Help local authorities target enforcement effort on those flouting the law.
  4. Ensure that businesses compete with one another on level terms.
  5. Enable businesses to feed back their views on regulations.

How Does it Work?

Anyone seeking information about environmental health or trading standards regulations has a choice of contact points and these are set out below.  Click here for specific advice for small businesses.

In addition Wealden Officers meet regularly with representatives of local businesses at the Local Business Panel Meetings.  If you would like to know more then contact Gail Fenn on 01323 443555 or e mail: foodandsafety@wealden.gov.uk
