What we do:
- Produce a Wealden
Food and Safety Bulletin three times a year which is
sent to all food businesses in the District. This publication
keeps local business people informed of developments, new laws
and the latest news in relation to food safety and health and
safety at work.
- Organise the annual 'Safety in Action' project to teach primary school children how to deal with emergency and dangerous situations. Approximately 600 children attend the project each year from local schools. A number of different agencies work together to put on the event. See project fact sheet 3 for further information.
- Operate the 'Child Safety Equipment Scheme', a project which loans to families on low incomes, pieces of safety equipment for their homes, which they may not be able to otherwise, afford. The aim of the project is to reduce the number of home accidents. See project fact sheet 5 for further information.
- Assist in organising an electric blanket testing scheme. This free testing scheme aims to remove dangerous and potentially dangerous electric blankets from use and high light safety issues. See project fact sheet 6 for further information.
- On request we will organise talks and training sessions to schools and community groups on a range of environmental health related topics. See project fact sheet 8 for further information.
- Assist in the formulation and implementation of the East Sussex, Brighton and Hove Drug Action Team Action Plan.
