Licensing ... what we do
We aim to issue licences within 28 days unless public consultation or sub-committee consideration is necessary.
To help us monitor and improve our performance we are publishing results of our Customer Satisfaction for 2006-2007 plus a summary of the results collected since 2003.
We investigate complaints about premises licensed by the Council – we will investigate or make contact with the complainant within 7 working days. Issues which pose an imminent threat to health and safety will be investigated as soon as possible and within 1 working day. Use our online form to report a problem with a licensed premises.
We will strive to ensure a consistent and fair approach in accordance with the Council's Enforcement Policy.
The Licensing Act 2003
The Licensing Act 2003 has introduced significant changes in liquor licensing. The Council has published a Statement of Licensing Policy, which indicates how the Council, as Licensing Authority for the Wealden District is implementing the legislation.
