Policy Officer

Salary Range: £25,200 - £27,717 p.a.

Based at Hailsham, East Sussex


You will need to be a self-starter with the ability to think quickly and act on your own initiative  to join our Policy and Review Team, which has recently achieved Charter Mark award. This post presents a stimulating opportunity to work at the heart of an ambitious and forward-looking Council, proud of its commitment to customer service.

As a member of our Policy and Review team, you’ll be responsible for the  development of specific policies within the Council on a wide range of issues, undertaking research, writing reports, and taking the lead role in developing and co-ordinating the Council’s consultation activities.

You will be qualified to degree level, and have experience of policy development in the public sector or a similar corporate role as well as having experience of dealing with people at all levels from a diverse range of  backgrounds and organisations. You will therefore need to be an excellent and effective communicator, confident acting on your own initiative and as part of a team, and be able to stay calm under pressure. You must be committed to customer care and have well developed ICT skills, ideally with experience of consultation software. You will also need to be flexible, able to prioritise and reprioritise at short notice and have use of a car as you are likely to attend meetings with partner organisations in a variety of locations.
