Pollution Control Officer
£12,847 - £19,530 + car allowance
23 hours per week (Wed-Fri)
Based Hailsham, East Sussex
From the Ashdown Forest to the South Coast and across towns, villages and a large rural area, Wealden is a leading local authority at the forefront of Pollution Control.
To maintain our high standards, we require two flexible, enthusiastic Pollution Control Officers to join our Environmental Protection Team. You will be responsible for investigating and resolving complaints of pollution and statutory nuisance and will monitor noise, radiation, private water supplies and atmospheric pollution. You will also inspect permitted installations and assess the environmental implications of a wide variety of planning applications.
A BTEC, Diploma or Degree in Environmental Health or other relevant environmental qualification required. Knowledge of Environmental Protection legislation and procedures is desirable, together with relevant experience. The post could suit a qualified Environmental Heath Officer or a person with relevant pollution related experience without the higher level qualification. In return we offer a friendly and supportive environment as well as training and development opportunities.
There are two posts and the hours for the part time post may be flexible. Benefits include Private Health Insurance, flexi-time, training, payment of professional fees, final salary pension plan, discounted Freedom Leisure Membership and a generous relocation package where applicable. Clean full driving licence essential. Some 'out of office' hours occasionally required.
