Guidance on the Planning system
The Planning Portal provides general guidance about the kinds of work for which you need to apply for planning permission and those for which you do not. For further information please see the Planning Portal's "Interactive House" which provides a visual guide on whether or not planning permission or building regulations will be required.
Submission of Certificate of Proposed Use
To find out whether proposed works need planning permission a Certificate of Proposed Use can be submitted. By submitting this Certificate a formal determination will be issued as to whether planning permission is required.

Changes to Permitted Development Rights
From 1st October 2008 amendments to the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995 (GDPO) come into effect.

Contacting the Development Duty Officer
A duty officer is available from 9.30am to 12.30pm every day. They can be contacted on 01892 602011 for general advice on planning matters.
These are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the Pine Grove, Crowborough office.
- Tuesday surgeries are for Householder and other minor domestic/commercial applications
- 9.30am and 12.30pm as half hour appointments.
- Wednesday surgeries are for Non-Householder, more complex small housing or commercial developments
- 9.30am - 12.30pm and 1.00pm - 4.00pm as hour appointments.
