Land Charges
C-NLIS Finalist 2008 for Most Improved Services Award
The Council's local land charges section is based at the Crowborough office and is responsible for the maintenance of the Land Charges Register together with processing local authority searches of the Register.
A Land Charges search is made up of various parts. Searches can be submitted via 3 methods, or can take the form of a personal search.
An information schedule for personal search companies is available providing details on how to locate information contained on the CON 29 Forms.
From 1st August 2007 the CON 29 forms will be replaced by two new forms.
Home Information Packs (HIPs)
Since 14 December 2007 every home put on the market, no matter what size, must have a Home Information Pack. It brings together valuable information at the start of the process - such as a sale statement, local searches and evidence of title - which could save you money, time and stress. The above link takes you to the Government’s dedicated Home Information Pack website.
For details of HIP providers, please see the Members page of the Association of Home Information Pack Providers website.
National Land Information Service (NLIS)
This is a system for submitting and receiving search enquiries electronically.
Currently the Council is taking between 3 and 4 working days to complete searches.
The standard of service you can expect from the Land Charges department.
