How Does The New Caddy Scheme Work
Each of the 3,000 households are issued with
- an additional 240 litre bin for green waste,
- a 55 litre blue caddy
- a 55 litre red caddy.
The caddies are designed to fit inside the bins providing several benefits to both the residents and the Council
- the collection crew only need to make one trip to each property to collect the bin and caddy
- they take up less storage space
- the paper is kept dry so the caddy won't be heavier if it has rained
- prevents additional litter problems
- lowers the number of caddies going missing
The blue caddy is placed inside the bin for green waste and the red caddy is placed inside the Landfill bin for collection.

The red caddy is for recycling
The Landfill bin is for
The collection is an alternate weekly collection which means one week the Landfill bin will be collected with the red caddy and the following week the bin for green waste will be collected with the blue caddy.
To ensure the bins and caddies are collected residents must
- put the correct bin and caddy at the boundary of the property (unless an exemption has been granted) ready for collection from 7am onwards
- ensure that the caddy is placed in the bin with the lid closed
