Waste reduction and recycling directory
This
Directory is currently being updated. We apologise in the
mean time for any errors in the contacts given. If you find
that any of the following information is incorrect please
let us know on 01892
602626 or email recycling@wealden.gov.uk so we can amend our records.
A - Z LISTING
Recycling has many benefits, but the most important way of dealing with waste is to reduce the amount we create in the first place. This is not so easy as recycling but there are hundreds of ways to contribute and most of us already do so through simple steps such as donating goods to charity or participating in supermarket 'bag for life' schemes. This new edition aims to put much more emphasis on reducing and reusing waste and most of the listings cover these areas. The aim has been to list relevant companies within the District. In certain cases non-Wealden businesses are included and mention is made, where appropriate, of the relevant sections in Yellow Pages so companies outside of Wealden can be easily found. There is also information on safe disposal of some difficult wastes.
In addition to the details in the A-Z Directory there is a non-profit organisation called Freecycle which allows you to advertise any item which could be used again by other people instead of adding to the landfill sites. The only condition of the site is that anything advertised must be free. You may also see something advertised that you could make use of!

They are cheaper in the long run, having a life of 4-5 years.
These are widely available and recyclable once exhausted.
For battery recycling:

Take them to any of the Household Waste Sites in East Sussex.
Household batteries including NiCad rechargeable's. Each manufacturer can only accept their own brand rechargeable batteries. Please do not send them anything else.
