Action in Rural Sussex (external link)

Action in rural Sussex (AiRS) was established in 1931 as the Sussex Rural Community Council, and has worked with and for rural communities ever since.

AiRS campaigns for a living, working Sussex countryside promoting the interests of rural and market town communities, and provides practical support to young people, families, older people and others. Also, AiRs works with community groups to help them manage change and achieve their aspirations.

A wide range of projects and programmes are delivered across East and West Sussex which aim to deliver:

High Weald - Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty  (AONB) (external link)

The High Weald is a medieval landscape of wooded rolling hills studded with sandstone outcrops; small, irregular-shaped fields; scattered farmsteads; and ancient route ways. The area lies at the heart of South East England; its 1461 square kilometres covering parts of Kent, Surrey and Sussex (including north Wealden).

The High Weald AONB Unit provides land management advice and support to landowners.
