Wealden District Council

Licensing

What we do

We issue licences for the sale of alcohol, places of entertainment, takeaway restaurants, Hackney Carriage (taxis) and Private Hire, pet shops, animal boarding, riding establishments and zoos. We also issue permits for lotteries, street collections and house to house collections.

We aim to issue licences within 28 days unless public consultation or sub-committee consideration is necessary.

We investigate complaints about premises licensed by the Council - we will investigate or make contact with the complainant within 5 working days. Issues which pose an imminent threat to health and safety will be investigated as soon as possible and within 1 working day.
