Notice of Conclusion of Audit

In accordance with Regulation 16 of the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015, notice is hereby given that the audit of Wealden District Council's Statement of Accounts for the year ended 31 March 2017 has been concluded and the Statement of Accounts has been published.

Under Section 25 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014, any interested local government elector may inspect and make copies of the statement of accounts, the auditor's certificate and opinion on the statement of accounts, and any public interest report or recommendation relating to the Council.

Access to the documents referred to above is available by any of the following methods:

  • Any interested local government elector may inspect the statement of accounts during the hours of 8.30am to 5pm at the Council Offices, Vicarage Lane, Hailsham BN27 2AX

Audit of Accounts 2016/17

Each year the Council's accounts are audited and any interested person may:

  • inspect the accounting records for the financial year to which the audit relates and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers, receipts and other documents relating to those records; and
  • make copies of all or any part of those records or documents.

For the year ended 31st March 2017 these documents will be available by appointment at the Council Offices, Vicarage Lane, Hailsham from 9.00am to 4.30pm on weekdays between Monday 5th June 2017 and Friday 14th July 2017 inclusive. Please telephone 01323 443231 to make an appointment.

Local Government Electors and their representatives also have:

  • the opportunity to question the auditor about the accounting records, who may be contacted at the London Office (address below) between Monday 5th June 2017 and Friday 14th July 2017 inclusive.
  • the right to make objections to the accounts or any items in them during the period Monday 5th June 2017 to Friday 14th July 2017. Written notice of an objection must first be given to the auditor and a copy sent to the Council.

The audit is being carried out by Janine Combrinck, BDO LLP, 55 Baker Street, London W1U 7EU and will be conducted under the provisions of the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015 and the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014.
