An opportunity has arisen to join us in our busy Benefits Service as a Customer Accounts Support Officer. The job is temporary to backfill a secondment. There is a possibility that this appointment will become permanent, but this cannot be guaranteed.
You will provide general support to staff administering claims for housing benefit and/or council tax reduction. Duties will include handling post and receiving, verifying and scanning customers’ documentation and maintaining accurate records.
You should have some experience of working in an office environment as well as experience of Microsoft Office. GCSE Maths and English Grade C or equivalent are essential as well as good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. This role is likely to involve telephone contact with the public, requiring fluent spoken English.
The successful applicant will be given training including on Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction as well as the required general administration duties and specialist computer programmes.
