Potential Wealden Councillors shown the ropes

Media Release : 27 March 2018

Potential new Wealden District Councillors came along to events in Hailsham and Uckfield to find out more about what being a Councillor involves.

New Councillor Events 2018

With the 2019 District elections fast approaching, Wealden District Council ran two well attended events to let those who are interesting in standing know more about what the role entails. Attendees were able to pick the brains of current Councillors, members of staff and representatives from the main political parties.

"Thank you to all those who came along and expressed an interest in becoming a Wealden Councillor at our recent events," said Councillor Bob Standley, Leader of Wealden District Council. "Being a Councillor is a tough but rewarding role to volunteer for and it’s encouraging to see so many potential new community leaders coming forward."

For those that are interested in standing in the 2019 elections but couldn’t make either session, a dedicated section of this website has been created  that should prove helpful. But please contact Wealden District Council’s Democratic Services team by emailing committee.services@wealden.gov.uk or phoning 01892 602720 if you have any further questions.
