Get ready for Get Online Week

In a rural area like Wealden, the internet is amazing tool which brings a world of choice and opportunities to your home

Get Online week

It allows you to access a range of services without the need for a costly car drive.

So are you still unsure about going online?

Help is at hand.

“Wealden District Council and East Sussex County Council libraries are backing National Get Online Week. It runs from 15 - 21 October,” said Councillor Nick Collinson, Wealden Cabinet member for Community Leadership. “This year’s aim is to persuade Wealden residents who may be reluctant to go online to Try 1 Thing. Just by going online and doing one new thing you have never done before can be an important step to improving your online skills. See the benefits that 1 New Thing can bring. You’ll surprise yourself.”

As part of Get Online Week, there are 12 digital events taking place in Wealden. There are three new local events to watch out for: 

•Barclay’s Digital Eagles Online Safety session at The Royal Oak and Castle Pub, High Street, Pevensey, BN24 5LE on Wednesday 17 October, 9.30 - 11.30am. Booking is required. Please call Kat Jenner, Wealden District Council on 07985 878624 or email communitydevelopment@wealden.gov.uk 

•ESCC Library Service Digital Drop in session at Alfriston War Memorial Hall, 4 The Tye, Alfriston, BN26 5TL on Tuesday 16 October between 3.30pm – 5.30pm.

The FSN Charity’s Digital Drop in session at Charles Hunt Centre, Hailsham, BN27 1BG on Tuesday 16 October between 9.30am – 12pm. Get Online Week is the UK’s biggest digital inclusion campaign, which has been organised by the Good Things Foundation since 2007.
