Disposal of fire ash and vacuum cleaner dust

News : 25 October 2017

Fire ash and vacuum cleaner dust can be a real problem for the collection crews.

What to do with wood ash

If they are not disposed of properly the resulting small particles can be blown around causing a mess and posing a health risk to the crew. Please put any cold ash and vacuum cleaner contents in plastic bags and tie them tightly to prevent spillages before placing them in your rubbish bin.

And don’t forget when bagging ash from wood burning stoves, it should go in the rubbish bin where it will be incinerated. Ash from treated and manufactured wood does not compost well.
