Make it an evening with local Wealden businesses

News : 30 May 2018

Too busy for a working breakfast? Wealden District Council and the Federation of Small Businesses are holding an evening Business Networking Event on Wednesday 13 June .

East Sussex National evening

It will look at the many issues raised by the new General Data Protection Regulations which have just come into force.

The event, in the Lynx Suite at the East Sussex National Hotel, Little Horsted, Uckfield, costs £11 per person and runs from 17.30 – 20.00, with the presentation beginning at 18.30.

“GDPR is a very important issue and opportunities can be found alongside what, for many, has been an administrative headache,” said Councillor Roy Galley, Wealden Cabinet member with responsibility for Economic Development. “We have switched our regular networking event to a Wednesday evening session to fit in with many people’s lifestyle and provide a relaxed environment to listen and talk.”

There can be no inbox in Wealden that hasn’t been inundated with emails in last few weeks from commercial operations asking for data consent. What do these data protection rules mean for the small businesses that make up the backbone of the Wealden’s rural economy?

Personal data takes many different forms. It can only be gathered legally under strict conditions for a legitimate purpose. The Wealden Business Networking event, with guest speaker David Jamieson of The Jamieson Consultancy (TJC), will provide local businesses with a chance to see if they are fully complaint.

The 13 June event includes a finger buffet tea, a question and answer session and plenty of opportunity for making new business contacts and renewing existing ones.

TJC is a sales and marketing support company with 20 years’ experience. Its services include data management, targeted lead generation, market research, data base cleansing, website design and digital marketing.
