Residents say yes to Herstmonceux Neighbourhood Plan

Herstmonceux residents have voted to approve the Neighbourhood Plan for the village proposed by Herstmonceux Parish Council.

A total of 484  (84%) voted for the adoption of the Neighbourhood Plan by Wealden District Council and 93 (16%) voted against.

A total of 581 residents voted, a turnout of 28.5%

"It is the first Neighbourhood Plan referendum that we’ve had in Wealden and it is a great example of how local democracy matters," said District Returning Officer Charles Lant.

The Herstmonceux Neighbourhood Plan will now be used by Wealden District Council to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area.

Wealden District Council is conducting a review of polling stations within the Wealden District prior to the scheduled District and Parish Elections in 2019.
Electors in Wealden are invited to make representations about current polling stations used, and if , possible make suggestions for alternative polling places before 30 June 2018. The Returning Officer intends to publish proposals for existing and any new polling stations on 30 July 2018.
