Litter Bins

What we do

  • We provide, maintain and empty most of the litter bins, generally on the public highway or footpaths, within the district.
  • Empty some of the litter bins provided by the Parish or Town Councils.
  • Work in partnership with businesses to help resolve ongoing litter problems.

Installation of litter bins

The Councils budget for installing and maintaining litter bins is very limited. Bins are installed at locations where they will be most useful in preventing litter.

What we don't do

The Council does not empty bins provided:

  • On private land
  • By a private business

Reporting a problem

If you would like to report a problem with a litter bin, please use the East Sussex Fault Reporting - Litter Bins Form (external link) or contact us using the details below.

Collection frequency

We provide weekly collections which are enhanced if the litter bin overflows.
