No Cold Callers for Heathfield
Residents in Heathfield and Waldron are the latest to benefit from the launch of a No Cold Calling Zone in their area. The scheme aims to discourage bogus callers or rogue traders from preying on vulnerable residents and helps residents to deal with unexpected callers. Further Zones are planned thanks to continuing partnership work between East Sussex Trading Standards, Parish Councils, Neighbourhood Policing Teams and The Safer Wealden Partnership.
Horam gets a Youth Shelter
Somewhere for young people to meet and hang around without causing a problem to local residents is always a bonus. Horam Parish has come up with a solution - a purpose built youth shelter. With a grant from the Safer Wealden Partnership the project has now become a reality.
Grant from the Safer Wealden Partnership Buys Computers
A charity which helps prevent and solve disputes between neighbours and families has secured a grant from the Safer Wealden Partnership. Mediation + based in Hailsham will use the money to purchase much needed computer equipment and will help the charity to become more efficient in their offices.
Improving Parking Outside Schools
The Safer Wealden Partnership has produced a number of large banners for use outside targeted primary schools in the Wealden District. The banners remind parents and carers, who bring their children to school, to park both safely and thoughtfully. The campaign to improve parking is backed up by visits to the schools by PCSOs from Sussex Police.
Uckfield Skate Park becomes a reality
Uckfield's new skate park has recently become a reality, thanks to donations from a number of local organisations, including £5,000 from the Safer Wealden Partnership. By all accounts the park is proving a very popular attraction. Facilities like this help to keep young people occupied and diverted away from other less constructive activities.
Nothing of Value Card
In a bid to drive car crime even further down, the Safer Wealden Partnership have produced eye catching cards that you can put on top of your dashboard when leaving your car. The idea works on a number of levels... Firstly when placing the card on your dashboard it acts a reminder to you to remove any valuables from your car. Secondly it makes others, who see the notice, think about what they may have left in their car. Thirdly, and most importantly it sends a clear message to any potential thief. And fourthly it acts as an advertisement for the work of the Safer Wealden Partnership.
Have you got yours yet? Pick one up from any local Police Station or Wealden District Council Reception Points. Some local petrol stations also have them.
To achieve the targets, The Safer Wealden Partnership has co-ordinated the activity of local agencies, encouraging partners to work together and consider crime reduction in the delivery of their services. Wealden is a very safe place to live and The Safer Wealden Partnership will continue to try and improve on these achievements.
