Brighton Housing Trust - Eastbourne in Wealden

Brighton Housing Trust - Eastbourne (Part of the East Sussex Advice Partnership) is branching out from Eastbourne and moving into the Wealden area for a two year pilot.

They will be operating half day sessions on alternate weeks at the Citizen Advice Bureaux in Hailsham and Uckfield. The sessions will be:

  • Uckfield CAB Tuesday (am) Phone: 01825 764940 (Eden House, The Office Village, Riverway, Uckfield).
  • Hailsham CAB Thursday (pm) Phone: 01323 842336 (Southview, Western Road, Hailsham).

The sessions are appointment only so it is necessary to visit in advance or ring one of the above telephone numbers to ensure an appointment is made in order to be seen.

Three sessions will offer Specialist housing advice and a further three sessions will offer Specialist welfare benefit advice. In order to qualify for advice customers must be eligible for legal aid. In most cases a low income or benefit entitlement will qualify someone for legal aid. The service has now started and is receiving appointments.

Housing Advice issues include:

Possession proceedings (tenants only) / Homeless Applications / Unlawful eviction and/or harassment - Disrepair / Mortgage/Rent arrears.

Welfare Benefits issues include:

Housing Benefit / Benefit Entitlement Checks / Disability Living Allowance / Social Fund Grants/Loans Reviews/Appeals of Benefits & Local Authority Decisions.
