Wealden District covers 323 square miles of rural East Sussex and it is one of the most rural areas in England.

Nearly two-thirds of Wealden recognised as being of national landscape quality, boasting the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the South Downs National Park.

The landscape is characterised by rolling turf downland in the south, through to ancient woodland and heathland, wetlands and wildlife habitats in the north.

Visit the Cuckoo Trail

Since 1990, the Cuckoo Trail has been a leisure route used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders. It passes through some beautiful countryside and is extremely popular with some 250,000 visitors annually.
