Wealden District Council's Active 4 Life programme offers dance, movement and yoga sessions for older people across Wealden to help rid those winter blues and spruce up the mental agility.
Active 4 Life is now up and running again after the Christmas break. Five sessions are taking place at the following times in Wealden's sheltered housing schemes:
Streatfield House, Uckfield - Dance and movement - 10am till 11am - Alternate Mondays.
Buxted Court, Buxted - Dance and movement - Alternate Mondays - 2pm.
Fazan Court, Wadhurst - Dance and movement - Alternate Tuesdays - 10am till 11am.
Church Bailey Court, Westham - Yoga - Every Thursday -10am till 11am
Rumsey Court, Crowborough - Dance and movement - Every Thursday - 10am till 11am.
Mary Burfield, Heathfield - Dance and movement - Every Friday - 11am till 12noon.
Each session costs £3. They are open to everyone - however active - just come along to the session. Sessions last an hour and are adapted to everyone's ability whether chair-based or standing.
"Active 4 Life sessions are a great opportunity to stretch and shake and get the circulation flowing. You will feel so much better afterwards," said Councillor Johanna Howell, Cabinet member for Community and Voluntary Sector. "We are currently trying to develop and expand this successful initiative into new locations across Wealden. If you would be interested in attending a session closer to home, please let our Community Development Team know and we will see what can be arranged. We hope that one day there will be an Active 4 Life session within easy reach of everyone in the District."
