Wealden has been awarded the Olympic ‘Inspire mark' for these events. There will be the opportunity to try different sports and activities and medals will be awarded for participation and achievement.
The emphasis will be on inclusive and physically active fun tackling the increasing problem of sedentary lifestyles which can lead to obesity and other future health problems. All members of the family, of all ages, will be welcome.
"We are delighted that Wealden's activity days have been recognised with the official Inspire Mark," said Councillor Johanna Howell, Cabinet lead for Community and Voluntary Sector at Wealden. "These events are all about bringing the Olympic spirit to our local communities and encouraging children - and everyone else! - to enjoy healthy, active lifestyles and to stay in touch with the people around them."
The Wealden Community Development Team and Active Play are facilitating all five events with a number of other agencies. Activities will include a BMX skate park, tug of war, healthy cooking sessions, crafts, group games and drama sessions. Local sports clubs, Freedom Leisure and Children's Centres will be on hand to showcase the activities that they offer and encourage attendees to keep participating in healthy sports and events.
