Digital Switchover - are you tuned to a London Transmitter?

The Digital Switchover for the Heathfield and Tunbridge Wells TV transmitters begins on 30 May. But if you live in the north of Wealden and your television is tuned to the London transmitter at Crystal Palace, you may loose your analogue signal earlier

The London Region Digital switchover begins on  4 April 2012 when the BBC 2 analogue  signal is switched off. At the same time BBC digital channels, included BBC 2 will be boosted to reach all London region areas On April 18,  all the remaining analogue signals for the London region will be switched off.

16 March 2012 -    Morrisons, Pine Grove, Crowborough

Visitors to the road show will be able to:

 

  • Find out when switchover is happening and the options for going digital. Advisors in pink can help with your digital TV enquiries.
  • Learn how eligible people can get a TV converted by the Switchover Help Scheme. Advisors in purple can provide specific information about the Help Scheme for those aged 75 and over and disabled people.
  • See technical demonstrations (e.g. how to retune a box) and put questions to Digital UK's specially trained advisors.
  • Meet Digit Al - Digital UK's iconic robot, star of BBC and commercial television.

Further Road Shows will be coming to Wealden to provide help and advice ahead of the South East Region switchover which begins on 30 May. 

To receive a Digital TV signal, all the televisions you use will need to be fitted with a Digital converter. If you receive a good analogue signal, you will not have to change your TV aerial.  If your video or DVD recorder is not digital, it will not be able to record one channel while you are watching another.

A Digital Help Scheme has been set up to help everyone who is:

Aged 75 or over, Or

Has lived in a Care Home for six months or more

Receives, or could receive, certain Disability Benefits

Is Registered Blind or Partially-Sighted.

The Help Scheme will provide an approved installer to supply and install the digital equipment for you.

A 12 month aftercare service and a free helpline.

The service costs £40 but is free for  eligible people on certain income related benefits.
