Accredited by Visit England, the Enjoy Sussex Local Accommodation Scheme has been developed to raise the overall minimum quality standards of accommodation for visitors and is a new, nationally recognised, low-cost version of the full Quality in Tourism (QiT) annual assessment scheme.
Assessments are carried out by independent assessors from QiT. No overnight stay is needed and costs are from just £78.50. The scheme checks that accommodation is "fit for purpose" and meets all current legal requirements, that businesses are safe, clean and well-maintained, and that their websites present a true reflection of the accommodation on offer.
"Tourism is a very important part of our local economy and Wealden District Council wants to promote new tourist opportunities and good quality accommodation for visitors," said Councillor Roy Galley, Wealden District Council Cabinet member with responsibility for tourism. "This scheme is an important contribution to achieving this, giving visitors peace of mind that the accommodation they are booking will be safe and secure and that they are getting what they see on the provider's website."
The Enjoy Sussex Partnership continues to support and recommend the full national QiT assessment scheme, which offers many additional benefits. The Enjoy Sussex Local Accommodation Scheme simply offers a low-cost alternative for businesses that would like to be assessed at a basic level and be able to assure visitors they have achieved a recognised quality standard.
