What are Conservation Areas?
They are areas of special architectural or historic character which it is desirable to preserve or enhance.
Does this provide added protection to the Area?
Yes, there are additional planning controls in such Areas. For instance:
- permission is needed to demolish most buildings and structures (such as walls)
- any proposed works to the trees within a Conservation Area need to be notified to the District Council at least 6 weeks before commencement
