Wealden Dementia Action Alliance Meeting

The next Dementia Action Alliance meeting will be on Thursday 23rd January 2020, 10am till 12noon at Herstmonceux Village Hall. (please note this is a date change from the 12th December, due to now elections needing the village hall) Please contact the Community and Regeneration Team on 01323 443266 for more information or if you would like to be involved.

Our vision from the start was to set up local forums as Wealden is identified as a large and rural area. So far we have helped to create the Uckfield Forum, Polegate Forum, Crowborough Forum, Hailsham Forum and Wadhurst Forum. Ninfield also have a Health and Wellbeing group for local residents to take part in. These forums work alongside their local community to become a dementia friendly community.

Hailsham Dementia Forum

The next Hailsham dementia forum will take place on Friday 8th November 2019, 10am at Bowes House, Hailsham. The forum will work towards a dementia friendly town for Hailsham. Movies Make Memories

New dates and films for 2020 coming very soon!

The screenings will be held at the Hailsham Pavilion Theatre on George Street, BN27 1AE, starting at 2pm, with doors opening at 1:30pm. Tickets cost £3 and carers can enter free of charge.

Hailsham Community Café 

Launching Thursday 14th November 2019 at St Wilfrid's Church Hall in Hailsham. Everyone is welcome. It will take place every second Thursday of the month, 2pm till 4pm. For more information please call 01323 443266. Supported by Hart Reade, Home Instead and Care UK. 

Polegate Dementia Forum

The next Polegate Dementia Forum meeting will be on Thursday 14th November 2019 from 10am until 12noon, at Queensmead Care Home, Polegate. Please contact us on 01323 443266 for more information if you would like to be involved.

Polegate Memory Café and Sporting Memories 

The Polegate Memory café takes place the first Thursday of every month at Polegate Community Centre, Windsor Way, Polegate, 2pm - 4pm. No booking necessary. For more information please call 01323 819191. Supported by Home Instead Senior Care and Hart Reade Solicitors.

Sporting Memories takes place every Wednesday 10am till 11.30am at Polegate Community Centre. It is a free weekly meeting for older sports fans to share their love of sport in a relaxed environment. For more information call 07947 521836.

Uckfield Dementia Forum

The next Uckfield Dementia Forum meeting will be on Wednesday 28th November 2019, from 1.30pm until 3.30pm at The Civic Centre, Uckfield. Please contact us on 01323 443266 for more information if you would like to be involved.

Crowborough Dementia Forum

Crowborough Afternoon Tea

The Afternoon Tea will take place every last Thursday of the month and will alternate between Woodlands and Heather View, Beacon Road in Crowborough. 2pm till 4pm.

Ninfield Dementia Film Screening

Friday 29 November - Friday 29 November

The screenings will be held at Ninfield Memorial Hall, Ninfield, TN33 9EE.

Doors open at 1.30pm, film to start at 2pm.

The screening is FREE but please book a seat. There will be a raffle and refreshments available.

Side By Side

Side By Side is a service provided by the Alzheimer's society that helps people get out and about with the support of a volunteer. There are several people with dementia in the Wealden area waiting for a volunteer to meet with them once a week or fortnight so they can go out and enjoy themselves. You could take them out for a coffee or a walk, or got to the pub to play darts, or help someone play guitar. Uckfield Saturday Socials

Saturday social is a supportive, safe and caring gathering for people living with dementia and other care needs, to come with their carers and family members, and socialise with others in a similar situation.

Join in the fun at Victoria Pavilion, Victoria Pleasure Ground, Uckfield, TN22 5DJ between 2pm - 4pm.

Wadhurst Community Cafe

The Wadhurst Community Cafe takes place the last Wednesday of every month at Wadhurst Manor, Station Road, Wadhurst, 2.30pm - 4.30pm. 

Five Ash Down Community Cafe

The Five Ash Down Community Cafe takes place the last Wednesday of every month at Hurstwood View Care Home, Five Ashes,10am - 12noon. Free transport available within a 5 miles radius.

Time For Dementia

Time for Dementia is a programme working with medical students and other health professionals. The students have the opportunity to get to know a person with dementia and their family carer outside the clinical setting.
