Street Sweeping

Definition

Street sweeping is the removal of mud, litter, leaves, grit and debris from the roadside.

What we do

The Council is responsible for keeping highways, lay-bys, bus shelters, subways, council car & coach parks and recycling centres clean.

Areas we don't cover

The Council is not responsible for street sweeping on the following:

  • Private Land - this is the land owners responsibility
  • Unadopted roads 
  • Private footpaths

What happens next

Once you report an area that requires sweeping, it will be followed up with an inspection and all relevant and necessary work is carried out.
