The Great British Spring Clean 2019

Great British Springclean 2019

From 22 March to 23 April, communities the length and breadth of Britain will be out in force to take a stand against litter during this year's month-long Great British Spring Clean campaign.

The Great British Spring Clean is a campaign with one simple aim: to bring people across the country together to clear up the litter that blights our environment.

Now is the perfect time to take a stand and join the ever-growing army of Wealden litter heroes who have had enough of other people's litter.

Wealden District Council is again supporting the campaign by providing equipment, refuse bags and waste collection services for Wealden volunteer litter picking groups.
Last year we supported 37 groups of volunteers who collected some 2.5 tonnes of litter at events across the district. This year, we are call on parishes, community groups, organisations and individuals to help remove as much litter - particularly single-use plastic litter - from our environment as possible. We want to make this year even bigger and better!

How to get involved

Supporting your litter pick

To help support your litter pick event Wealden District Council can:

  • Provide free litter picking equipment, including litter picks, gloves, high visibility vests and bag hoops (max 10 sets)

  • Provide standard refuse bags
  • Collect your filled refuse bags after your litter pick
  • Publicise your event successes

Arrange your waste collection:

The Council, in partnership with its waste contractor, Kier, will collect any bagged litter resulting from the Spring Clean campaign.
