Housing Financial Inclusion Strategy For WDC Tenants

What is Financial Exclusion?

Financial exclusion is where mainstream financial services or products, such as high street bank accounts, credit facilities or insurance are either not available or affordable to individuals or households.

National research suggests that those at risk of financial exclusion are social tenants, those who are unemployed or on a low income, single people or lone parents, and people experiencing mental health issues or domestic violence.  With social tenants being at greater risk of financial exclusion, we have a responsibility to tackle it.

The Financial Inclusion Strategy 2014-16 sets out a clear strategic direction for the Council in terms of how we will work to help council tenants who currently are or who might be at risk of financial exclusion.
