Community Infrastructure Levy

What is CIL?

The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) came into force in April 2010. It allows local authorities in England and Wales to raise funds from developers undertaking new building projects in their area. The money can be used to fund a wide range of infrastructure that is need as a result of development.

CIL Charging Schedule

Wealden District Council, as a Charging Authority, is required to produce a CIL Charging Schedule which sets out the rates of CIL to be charged on development within the District.

Following examination from an independent Planning Inspector, the Council's CIL Charging Schedule was adopted at Full Council on Tuesday 25th November 2015. The CIL Charging Schedule will become effective on 1st April 2016. The Council's Adoption Statement, Adopted CIL Charging Schedule and the Inspector's Final Report can all be viewed and downloaded below.

Further information and guidance will be published shortly with regard to how CIL will be collected.

Submission of CIL

The Council submitted the CIL Charging Schedule to the Planning Inspectorate for examination on Wednesday 25th March 2015.  To view the Charging Schedule and all the supporting documentation, please go to the CIL Library of Documents and Evidence Base page.

Revised Draft Charging Schedule Consultation

The Revised Draft Charging Schedule was approved for publication and consultation by Full Council on 11th September 2014. Representations were sought for a six week period between Monday 15th September 2014 until 5pm on Monday 27th September 2014. These representations can be viewed and downloaded from the CIL Revised Draft Charging Schedule page of our website.

Amended Draft Charging Schedule Consultation

The Amended Draft Charging Schedule was approved for publication and consultation by Full Council 27th November 2013 . Representations were sought for a six week period between Monday 9th December 2013 and Monday 3rd February 2014. The Draft Charging Schedule can be viewed on the CIL Amended Draft Charging Schedule Consultation page of our website.

Draft Charging Schedule Consultation

The Draft Charging Schedule was approved for publication and consultation by Full Council on 15th May 2013. Representations are currently being sought for a six week period between Monday 17th June 2013 and Monday 29th July 2013. The Draft Charging Schedule can be viewed on the CIL Draft Charging Schedule page of our website.

Preliminary Draft Charging Schedule Consultation

The Preliminary Draft Charging Schedule was approved for publication and consultation by the LDF Sub Committee on 23rd July 2012Representations were sought for a six week period between Monday 13th August 2012 until 5pm on Friday 21st September 2012.  These representations can be viewed and downloaded from the CIL Preliminary Draft Charging Schedule page of our website. Following consultation on the Preliminary Draft Charging Schedule the results were reported to the LDF Sub Committee on 14th November 2012
