Garden Waste Service

Wealden residents can now sign up to the new Garden Waste Collection Service costing £50 per year

The new service is optional and the subscription year runs from 1 July to 30 June.

If you wish to continue having your garden waste collected, sign up by 1 June 2019 to ensure an uninterrupted service.

How does the service work?

The garden waste bin will be emptied fortnightly from the edge of your property, except for a two week suspension over the Christmas and New Year period. For existing customers collections will continue as per your current garden waste calendar until further notice. Please make sure your bin is out from 7am on collection day. Any garden waste that is not in your bin will not be collected.

Find out when your collection day is by using the Bin Day Search or your garden waste calendar.

For further information on the new garden waste service please see our Frequently Asked Questions.

How do I sign up?

  • If you would like the service, sign up and pay online at my.wealden.gov.uk. If you don’t already have a My Wealden account, you will need to create one.
  • Pay in full by debit or credit card.
  • You can request a second bin for an additional £50 per year.
  • A licence sticker for each garden waste bin will be sent to you to attach to the bin(s). Bins without a licence sticker will not be emptied and may be removed.
  • Garden waste bins will be delivered to customers who do not currently have a bin at their property.
  • If you live in a communal property with shared garden waste bins and would like to continue with garden waste collections please contact your managing agent or residents’ association and ask them to contact the Waste Team on 01323 443322 or recycling@wealden.gov.uk .
  • View or download the full terms and conditions (pdf)

What if I don’t want the garden waste service?

  • If you don’t want to sign up for the new service you do not need to contact us.
  • Your final free collection will be the last scheduled collection in June.
  • We will need to remove the bin for re-use or recycling.  Please continue to place the empty bin out on your scheduled collection days and it will be removed by the end of July.

What else can I do with my garden waste?

Garden waste cannot be put into the refuse or recycling bin. These bins will not be emptied if they contain garden waste. Further information can be found on our frequently asked questions webpage.
