Wealden Owned Car Parks

Wealden car parks offer free parking, for the period of time stated, apart from Alfriston and Pevensey which are run by the Parish Council and have a seasonal pay and display charge system.

Depending on the car park, there are short and long stay bays, Blue Badge Scheme, visit the DirectGov website (external link) disabled bays, parent and child bays as well as motor and bicycle bays and racks, some have toilets and disabled toilet facilities. Car Parks Managed By Wealden

Wealden also runs car parks on behalf of private owners such as Waitrose, Co-Op and the Quintins shopping Centre. Please see the full  information about each car park in the Wealden Car Park Listing which states whether the car parks are privately owned and managed by Wealden or Wealden owned and run.

The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Wealden District Council Off Street Parking Order 1990 (pdf) contain regulations designed to ensure the car parks are managed in the most effective manner to protect the needs of both shoppers (short term parking close to the shops) and workers (longer term parking).

These include strict adherence to the short stay time limits, preventing abuse of bays provided for Blue Badge disabled drivers, and prohibition of heavy good vehicles. For information about the Blue Badge Scheme, visit the DirectGov website (external link).
