The Wealden Disability Involvement Group (WDIG), is a group of disabled people living in Wealden, who help and advise the Council on many Council services. This includes, the Wealden website, the way we communicate with our residents, and Housing, Benefits and Waste and Recycling services.
WDIG was set up in October 2008. We worked in partnership with the East Sussex Disability Association (ESDA) to recruit disabled residents of Wealden that had taken part in the Disability Equality Scheme.
The group meets on the first Thursday of each month, usually in Uckfield. We currently have over 25 members of WDIG. This includes representatives from a number of clubs and groups in the Wealden District.
Topics that have been discussed:
- Digital Switch Over Help Scheme / Elections
- Access Officer/ Fuel Poverty/ Council Tax booklet
- Community Grants / Sussex Police
- General Communication
