The team also provides day-to-day support to the Chief Executive and Leader of the Council, ensuring that enquires and matters of concern are directed appropriately, co-ordinating responses as necessary.

Internal Audit

Accounts & Audit Regulations require the Council to maintain an internal audit function by the to ensure that the Council's internal control arrangements support and promote the achievement of its objectives in serving the district. Internal Audit work is undertaken under a plan of scheduled reviews of the Council's activity. These are then used by the Chief Finance Officer, Monitoring Officer, Chief Executive and Councillors in preparing and signing the Annual Governance Statement confirming responsible and accountable use of the Council's assets and resources. Rother and Wealden District Councils are jointly developing their internal audit services under a shared manager.
