Reduce your environmental impact and save money

Businesses can play their part in conserving water supplies and energy…and save on their utility bills at the same time.

Wealden District Council has organised a  business breakfast presentation on Tuesday July 18 with EcoSys  offering a practical lesson on increasing energy and water efficiency. All local businesses are invited to attend.

“With recent rises in energy prices and the current water situation, businesses may be missing a trick if they don’t keep a careful control of their use of these essential resources,” said Councillor Keith Whitehead, Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration.

Included in the Ecosys presentation will be:

There will also be a brief presentation from Wealden’s Planning Policy Team on Wealden's Local Development Framework, which will be identifying new sites for business development. As part of this process, Wealden published its Statement of Community Involvement last month, seeking ways of encouraging more people to get involved with the planning process.

EcoSys, the not-for-profit environmental consultants, has worked with over 300 local business, helping many of them to make important savings.  Ecosys run the East Sussex betre project in partnership with Wealden District Council and other local authorities, which recently helped the Bowles Outdoor Centre reduce its running costs by £6,000 per year.

“The actions identified by betre put us in a win-win situation…helping us to reduce our environmental impact and save us money”, said Randal Williams, Director of Bowles.

The Wealden Business breakfast runs from 7.30am to 10.30am and includes either a full English or Continental breakfast using local produce. It will take place at Wellshurst Golf and Country Club, on the A267, near Hellingly, East Sussex, and will cost delegates £9 per head (including breakfast and drinks).  After the presentation there will be a chance to grab another drink and take part in some informal networking, and use the ‘Name Exchange’ table to make further business contacts.

Places are limited so please contact Wealden District Council’s Regeneration section on 01892 602887 if you would like to attend. Or email regeneration@wealden.gov.uk .
