Tuning into Summer Vibes
The Summer Vibes festival – open to young and old – is fast becoming one of Wealden’s top artistic events.
Wealden District Council is proud to be supporting a number of creative workshops at the festival which make the event more than just a concert.
“We’ve been supporting Summer Vibes festival for a number of years,” said Councillor David Logan, Cabinet Member for Finance. “It was started by a group of 13 to 25 year olds who wanted to create a summer event where young people get together and enjoy themselves. Over the past four years, it has blossomed out into an entertainment for a much wider age group including a host of creative activities. It is good to see young people in Wealden showing such initiative.”
This year Wealden District Council has given the Young Ones a Community Grant of £705 which was further helped by a Global Grant for £576. Global Grants use EU social funding, matched by Wealden District Council support and administered by East Sussex County Council.
This year’s Summer Vibes takes place on Saturday 15 from July 2pm-12am at Luxford Field, Uckfield.
The event features a balance of local and regional talent spanning a wide range of musical styles including folk, rock, blues and funk. There are also picnic areas, an Open Art Space tent, a selection of food from around the world (including a South African BBQ and West-African cuisine), craft stalls, a graffiti wall, and many other creative workshops and activities.
