Sharing research will save money
Five borough and district councils from across East Sussex are saving money and resources by buying market research services together. The chosen research contractor, BMG, will conduct a Satisfaction Survey on behalf of the council, which is required by central government.
By agreeing to a joint approach, Hastings Borough Council, Rother District Council, Wealden District Council, Lewes District Council and Eastbourne Borough Council have been able to make the whole process of tendering for professional research services much more efficient, and in doing so, reduce spending. Partnership working, it is estimated, will save each council 10% of what it would have cost had the surveys been commissioned separately. This coordinated approach also saves staff time and allows expertise to be shared easily.
"We are required to carry out a Satisfaction Survey every three years to find out what residents think of council services,” said Council Leader Nigel Coltman. “These results are very important to us. We can use them to make service improvements and ensure the public, our customers, are getting the best deal we can offer from our resources. We need a professional market research company to carry out the survey so that results will be reliable, but this new joint-procurement arrangement means that we can get this and save money at the same time."
The survey will give Wealden residents the chance to have their say about what they think about Wealden District Council and the services it provides. It will be delivered to a random sample of selected homes from September.
If you are chosen to receive the questionnaire, don't waste your opportunity to have your say. Please fill in the questionnaire and return it to us as soon as possible.
